In the end Vivek, told me this water is being recycled. A filter clears most of the impurities and the water is fed back in to the same pipeline. This doesn’t use any extra power other than the existing pressure in the pipes for pumping the water.
That means the water is not wasted. The water is clean and fresh and I prefer drinking out of it because it always cold during the summer too.
